SIA Accreditation

Definitive Security secures SIA Approved Contractor status

Definitive Security and sister brand TSG have won Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) accreditation, the sought-after set of standards overseen by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Independently monitored, the exacting ACS endorsement process examines how well an organisation is managed, how effectively it services its customers and how well it treats its employees, across nine categories, including Strategy, Commercial Relationship Management, Resources, People and Leadership.

A spokesperson for the SIA comments: “Approved contractors are committed to customer service and the compulsory licensing of their staff. This means their customers can rest assured that every private security operative deployed on their premises will be working within the law.”

Definitive Security is no stranger to high standards. It achieved ISO 9001 for a second successive year in December, but ACS, which is recognised by clients/potential clients and the police, is another marker for the agency, putting it in demonstrable step with the UK’s highest profile security suppliers.

Managing Director, David Boswell, says: “It is a great feeling to see the organisation approved by the ACS. It allows us to engage prospects who might otherwise have been unable to consider contracting our services, it will also allow us to support larger organisations who need to subcontract work but who can only do so to ACS registered suppliers.”

Built on a platform of relevant industry codes of practice, the SIA’s Approved Contractor scheme is a universally recognised mark of quality for private security suppliers, designed to raise performance standards and to assist in developing new opportunities.

Developed in consultation with representatives from across the industry, ACS specifically covers the elements regulated by the SIA and the Private Security Industry Act 2001 (as amended). There is a single scheme, with sector-specific approval based on a relevant set of qualifying criteria.

Operations Statement response to Craig David Live at Lingfield Park Resort 16th September.

Thank you to the thousands of people for your co-operation come rain and shine on Saturday.
Among the positive feedback from our staff and a large number of customers who attended the event, we are aware of some comments criticising the operations, including the security arrangements. We were among three security companies on site that day, and to clarify, our areas of responsibility were:

• Main entrance
• Most external gates
• Most bars

We can confirm that one of the conditions of entry set by the venue was an umbrella-ban. Lingfield Park has asked anyone looking to retrieve any prohibited property, to contact them to arrange for collection.

Due to the bad weather, security personnel were asked to monitor potential over-crowding within the inside bars. Customers were only prevented from entering an indoor space if the numbers were deemed a safety risk in those areas.

No reports.

Definitive Security are committed in supporting events operate a safe and enjoyable experience for all involved. If you wish to speak to us relating to any of the above please contact our team at We take all matters relating to our performance and those we work to keep safe seriously.

Thank you in advance,
Operations Team.

New Opportunities

Our Operations Manager James Goodwin will be moving on from Definitive as of the 6th March 2014.

As we plan James exit from the company, I on behalf of everyone at DSS would like to thank James for the time he has spent here over the last 3 and a half years. It has been a pleasure to have James working for us where many great memories have been created and where James has made many friends.

We all congratulate James on his new career path and although James steps down from his operations manager role at Definitive, we hope to see him on events with DSS pending his availability in the future.

As one door closes another has to open, with James departure on the horizon it will create a new and exciting opportunity at Definitive. This week we will be announcing a new opening for someone within the company, details of this will be published on the company website, and we will place a link to our website on here as soon as this becomes available for people to express their interest.

Once more a huge thank you to James Goodwin as we wish him all the very best and every success in his new job!
